We live in a toxic age. Our water Is laced with heavy metals. The air we breathe is polluted with carbon byproducts. What we eat is chemically enhanced or genetically modified to last longer, taste better, and fill us up with superfluous calories. Even our body\'s burning of fats, proteins and sugars for energy creates waste. So cleaning out our guts has to be a good idea, right?

Yes and no. Our body can clean up its own mess, The body does not passively soak up toxins like a sponge. It has defences and resources which constantly act even while you sleep. When toxins enter your body, these are swiftly dealt with. But if our body can take care of its own waste, why do we sometimes feel bloated enough to want to stick a plunger down our gut? Pro-detox experts think we can do with some extra help.

Experts thinks that the body is already detoxifying itself all along, but we live in a toxic environment. We suffer from stress, breathe little fresh air, some smoke & drinks, we also ate foods that are grill which produces dangerous carbon. How to detox them: Drink two cups of dandelion-leaf tea and one cup of nettle tea a day to flush out the kidneys and help with fluid retention. If that\'s too much liquid to take, stick to the dandelion-leaf tea. Take the mix for six to eight weeks, one cup twice a day.

Skin : What it does: Sweat glands carry waste products, primarily urea and ammonia, from the body to be excreted in the form of perspiration. How to detox it: Ginger or marigold tea is a good remedy to try. Drink a cup two to three times a day for up to four weeks.

Intestines : What they do: The small intestine absorbs nutrients, leaving waste material to enter the large intestine or colon, then the rectum for elimination. The large intestine also absorbs needed water and minerals. How to detox them: one teaspoon of psyllium husks (from health stores) mixed in 150ml of juice or water. Drink it before bed, followed by 250ml of water afterwards. Take the mix for six to eight weeks, one teaspoon once a day.

Probiotics, the supplement of the moment, can also give your intestines a boost. Look for those that contain 15 billion organisms per capsule. 'Take them for four weeks, then give your system a break for one to two weeks. This is to allow your digestive system to build a conducive environment for the good bacteria to thrive in. You can continue the course for half a year.

Gall Bladder : What it does: It stores bile - a fat-digesting and acid-neutralising liquid that is continually secreted by the liver. How to detox it: Blend the juice of two grapefruits with one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil. Drink this two to three times a week for six to eight weeks.

Conclusions:

For a detox starting point, a brief abstinence from rich foods and alcohol will do the trick. Stop eating rich foods and drinking alcohol for a period of time. Instead, drink plenty of plain water and eat more fresh fruits and vegetables. For further improvement alternatives, water and fruits detox programme, herbals or using detox foot patches is a good choice.

Detox Myths Shattered: the Truth About Internal Cleansing

Doctors are frantically scurrying to annhilate detox out of the sphere of influence, making claims that invalidate and attack internal cleansing methods, labeling them 'dangerous,' and 'ineffective.' The scare tactics being employed by M.D.\'s, however, can be demystified with a little common sense. Allow me to explain why the medical industry wants to boot detox off the radar screen by addressing the three biggest 'myths' told by doctors and spun by journalists:

1.        The body is already capable of detoxing itself. Isn\'t this a nice thought? See, this would be true if a person were in a perfect state of health, entirely free of toxins in the first place. Given that 100of people are exposed to toxins through food, water, pesticides, cleaning products, pollution, and loads of invisible environmental toxins on a daily basis, it is safe to assume that all of us are, on some level, toxic. Doctors claim that the body is capable of eliminating these toxins effectively without the aid of a detox program. The problem, however, is that toxic overload, (which often results simply from consuming processed, packaged food over a lifetime) inhibits the body from being able to eliminate waste and other toxic material quickly enough. The result is essentially a 'clogged' digestive tract that is unable to absorb nutrients properly. Furthermore, disease cannot exist in an alkaline, oxygenated enviroment. ____________ won the Nobel Peace price in 1XXX for this discovery. Given this idea,  people would not suffer from chronic health ailments or disease at all unless they were internally toxic on some level. Disease thrives in an acidic environment, and detoxing assists the body in obtaining a more alkaline state.

2.        Detox is dangerous. The only thing dangerous about detox is that it threatens the very foundation of western medicine. Think about it. If people could obtain vibrant health without the use of drugs or invasive surgeries, then there goes the billion dollar pharmeceutical industry and the careers of many doctors. Medical M.D.\'s have every reason to critcize and debunk a practice that directly threatens their jobs. Yet, this claim is not only based on defending the medical profession, but also a great deal of ignorance. Typically, medical school programs spend about a day covering material about nutrition. The heart of detox is based on how foods affect the internal atmosphere of the body, and using the right foods, herbs, and natural supplements to correct imbalances. One day of nutrition out of several years of study cannot possibly afford doctors enough information to understand the concept of detox. So, why do doctors claim detox is dangerous? Probably based on the symptoms that many people experience when first undertaking a detox regime: headaches, nausea, fatigue, and other vague symptoms that may resemble a flu or cold. What is common knowledge in the Ayurvedic, holistic, and detox health community has obviously escaped doctors—the idea of the 'healing crisis'.  What happens during a detox can be compared to washing a pan that has crusted food stuck to the bottom. The toxic debris that get stored in our bodies is suddenly released and circulating in our bloodstream and throughout our cells before being eliminated, causing symptoms resembling illness the first few days of a detox. Often times, physical symptoms from previous diseases will surface, as residual traces have been stored in the body. Think about the dirty pan. Adding a cleansing agent like water will loosen debris so it can be washed away. A healing crisis, contrary to popular belief, is a good sign that the detox is working properly. It is no more 'dangerous' than getting the oil changed for your car. The rewards of sticking it out through a healing crisis are far greater than staying toxic.

3.        Detox involves eliminating food groups and deprives you of proper nutrition Only in America do people gasp at the idea of deprivation. The overly –indulgent nature of our society is most likely the cause of nutrition deprivation. Eating processed crap will certainly starve my body of much needed nutrients. The claim that doctors make in regard to detox is that it is not healthy to eliminate certain food groups. However, this is only partially true. Detoxing doesn\'t always involve cutting carbs, going vegetarian, or giving up sugar. When it does, it serves an important purpose by allowing the body to restore digestive functions and eliminate toxins effectively. Certain detox regimes, such as the Master Cleanse or juicing, do involve eliminating solid foods, gluten, meat, or other things for a period of time. However, giving up steak and potatoes or candy bars for a month is not putting you in danger of nutritional deficiencies. Clinical studies have proven that vegans and vegetarians can acquire the same amount of nutrients and proteins from plant sources as meat-eaters. Additionally, detox programs are short in duration, meaning that you can\'t adopt a nutrient deficiency if you decide to juice fast for a week. Granted, it is always wise to speak to a health care practitioner about your needs if you have conditions like diabetes or hypoglycemia, yet most people can safely detox and will not be nutritionally deprived. Another thing to consider about this myth is that giving up certain foods does not mean you are eliminating an entire food group. White bread, for example, can be replaced with sprouted grains, rye, or spelt. Processed sugar can be replaced with natural sugar. The protein in meat can be exchanged for nuts and seeds. Detoxing does not have to be about deprivation and starvation. If you don\'t want to drink maple syrup and lemonade for 10 days, there are plenty of foods that you can eat while doing a detox that will keep you nourished and healthy.

The medical community will continue to clamor about detox. One of their biggest claims at the moment is that there is 'no data' to scientifically prove that detox is effective. Correct me if I\'m wrong, but it might have something to do with the lack of scientific research even conducted on the subject. 'No data' simply means that clinical studies have not been performed, evaluated, and infiltrated into the scientific and medical communities. Furthermore, something tells me that they wouldn\'t be made public by the very powerhouses that would be threatened by conclusive evidence in support of the health benefits of detox. In any case, the proof is in the pudding. I\'ve seen tumors shrink, a diabetic go off his insulin, and many other chronic health issues vanish with detox. As ancient Ayurvedic medicine holds, all disease starts in the GI tract. Where medical doctors and holistic doctors disagree, is how to treat the disease, with the former focusing on controlling symptoms, and the latter investigating and curing the root cause of the disease. Of course it would be difficultto prove that a certain disease went away by cleansing the digestive tract and detoxing. But the process of elimination would suggest that when nothing else works, detox is the culprit of the cure.

While western medicine certainly has its place in society (if I break my arm, a detox won\'t fix it), be wary of their expertise when it comes to detox.

Our liver is  the first line of defence against toxins entering the bloodstram in the first place, however the liver being deigned by Nature and not a Chemist simply cannot regognise most of the Chemical toxins in which we partake in the 21st Century, alas not recognising them as toxins does not make them non-toxic, our Kidneys will help eliminate these toxins but is simply overwhelmed by the sheer quantity of toxins we ingest.

Research has indicated, even without the inevitable breakdown of our body detox functions, the human body is simply not capable of eliminating the variety of toxins and chemicals that are ingested. The toxins will accumulate in our cells (especially fat cells), blood, tissues, organs and remain stored for an indefinite length of time bringing all kinds of eventual health problems as time goes by.

The effect of these toxins on the body is that they form Free-Radicals, in brief these are highly unstable atoms or compounds by way of being open shell configuration and unpaired electrons, very nasty indeed, these radicals run amok in the body damaging every healthy cell they cross the results of this damage soon start to show in the decline of our general health.

So what do I need to do on a Fast Detox?

With most things in life you only get out what you put in, not so with the Fast Detox you really will get so much more back than you put in,
there are different levels of Detox there is the Ultimate Fast Detox then watered down versions to suit everyone.

Nearly every religion in the world, including Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism and Islam, use methods of fasting for spiritual, physical and mental rejuvenation.

So After our 24/36 hour fast what do we do.

The Liver being the first line of defence against ingested toxins takes quite a battering over time, and we all know that alcohol is not good for the liver?, so this is the first thing to go for 10 Days. No Alcohol, None.

No Processed or Fast Food, includes fizzy sweet drinks,

Most people are to some extent wheat intolerent so no wheat or wheat products, bread, pasta, pastry, biscuits or similar.

As for carbohydrates, keep the starchy type to a minimum, try pulses, legumes and beans they are delicious and super nutritious.

Keep you proteins to a minimum you will be getting plenty through the foods above.

Why You Should do a Detox and 10 Things to Look For in Your Detox Program

Conducting a detox or cleanse is certainly a frightening notion to several people, as this conjures up images of fainting, drinking spicy lemonade, and starving yourself. While there are several juice fasts out there that guarantee to help you drop pounds (since you\'re consuming so few calories), putting your body through a detox does not have to be a scary ordeal. First, you have to know the benefits of a detox and what to look for in a safe, healthy program that won\'t have you fainting or starving.

Why should you detox?

Everyday we consume millions of toxins, chemicals, additives, and preservatives in the air and in our food. Our bodies were never meant to absorb these toxins. During the digestive process, your stomach cannot healthfully separate the clean from the bad portions of the food you\'re eating. Once in our system, these toxins can hurt our digestive and immune systems and cause such symptoms as:

-bloating, constipation, and flatulence

-poor skin and hair health

-fatigue and loss of energy

-weight gain

-insomnia or poor sleep

-cravings for salt, sugar, and processed foods

If you want to do a fruit-based detox program, one of the best is a raw vegan diet, whereby you only consume non animal foods that have never been heated above 118 degrees. This basically leaves you with fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Again, this can be expensive and isn\'t for everyone.

There are, however, several detox programs of all types sold online and in nutrition stores. Some of these programs are better than others, so if you decide to go with a supplement detox program, choose wisely.

What should I look for?

It is a good general rule that if you intend to cleanse, and you want to do it a nutritional, safe, healthy way, make sure your cleanse program has the following qualities:

1. Nutrition. Unless you intend to do a fast, which is completely separate from a nutritional cleanse, you\'ll want to go with a detox program that values nutrition and contains daily vitamins, protein, fruits and vegetables, and other healthy foods. Many detox programs are simply diet pills that you take in addition to your normal diet (or they\'re meant to be your ONLY source of nutrition). These are dangerous and do not provide the benefits your body needs to sustain a detox healthfully. Make sure to pick a product that helps you stay full so that you\'re less likely to cheat and break your detox.

2. All Natural. Unfortunately, the regulations concerning what constitutes 'all natural' is incredibly vague. Many companies, especially those with products made outside of the United States, claim that their products are all natural but they may still use trace amounts of artificial ingredients. All natural in its most simple form means any product without artificial colors, flavors, sweeteners or preservatives. If it\'s got citric acid, it\'s not all natural. If it\'s sweetened with Splenda, it\'s not all natural. Basically if you can\'t pronounce the ingredients, then it\'s not all natural. If your grandmother wouldn\'t recognize an ingredient, then it\'s not all natural. In general, try to use a detox program that only contains REAL ingredients from the earth, not a lab. If a product contains soy, make sure it is non-genetically modified (non-GMO) and the product uses soybeans instead of a soy isolate.

3. Vegan. This should go without saying, but animal products, whether meat or dairy, in general, are packed with fat, hormones, chemicals, cholesterol, salt, and other things that contradict weight loss and a healthy detox. One of the biggest benefits of a detox is reduction of bloating. Animals products directly cause bloating since they have salt, fats, and lactose that can fill your stomach with gas. The types of products that are NOT vegan include those with whey protein, eggs, honey, milk, or meat. Also, it\'s important to support companies that use animal free ingredients since it is more sustainable and better for the environment. Several companies, such as Kaeng Raeng, support animal rights organizations by donating a portion of every sale of an animal free product.

4. Gluten Free. Those with Celiac Disease suffer from a gluten allergy, but they aren\'t the only ones who should avoid gluten. Gluten can raise insulin levels, cause abdominal cramping and water weight gain, and is usually associated with sugary processed simple carbohydrates that contain the very toxins you\'re trying to get rid of. Make sure to choose a detox program that is gluten free, which means yeast and wheat free.

5. Stimulant Free. Products that promote 'weight loss' are often caffeine pills masquerading as detox pills. These stimulants increase your heart rate, can lead to insomnia and loss of concentration, and really contradict the purpose of getting your body back to a natural chemical-free state. Another type of stimulant is a laxative. Laxatives are often used in colon cleanse products to help speed up the elimination portion of the detox. If a product has a bunch of ingredients you can\'t pronounce and most of them are from outside of the United States, be aware that those ingredients 1. are not regulated by as many US agencies as those ingredients made within the USA, 2. had to travel a long way to get to you, which makes the product worse for the environment, 3. does not support the efforts of local farmers and suppliers. If you want to support American businesses, stay local. Many nutritional cleanses are made in Japan or China, while others are made in California, New York, or Florida.

7. Taste. There are plenty of detox/cleanse juices and powders out there that use all natural ingredients and unconventional sources of protein like hemp, flax, rice, or nuts. These products can taste like grass or sand. Hey, if that\'s what you like, then go right ahead! But most of us want to drink something that we can keep down. If you can\'t stand the taste of a product then you WON\'T stick with your detox, so you might as well not try at all. If you want a fruit-based cleanse, make sure to choose one that has actual fruit in the ingredient list, not fruit puree concentrate or fruit flavors.

8. Probiotics. Probiotics literally mean 'for life.' As defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), a probiotic is a living microorganism that, when administered in adequate amounts, confers a health benefit on its host. Probiotic live cultures are friendly bacteria that help to regulate and speed up digestion through the intestines and colon. Probiotic cultures, specifically L. 9. Convenience. There are several detox programs that involve blending smoothies with your own fruit and vegetables. These programs are usually fairly expensive and can be incredibly inconvenient. What is Detoxification?

Detoxification is a physiological or medical removal of toxic substances from the body. Detoxification is used medically with drug withdrawal, decontamination of poison ingestion, dialysis, and chelation therapy. During these processes toxins and toxic chemicals are removed from the body. Detoxification works by addressing every cell in the body.

Types of Detoxification

When should You Detox?

Recommended detox programs should be done 1-2 times a year depending upon your level of health. Or if you have symptoms such as unexplained fatigue, sluggish elimination, constipation, irritated skin, allergies, bags under the eyes, distended stomach, menstrual difficulties, mental confusion, aches and pains, headaches, and digestive problems. A short program normally lasts 3-7 days. Some practitioners recommend doing a cleanse or detox at the change of each season due to the overexposure to airborne pollutants, refined and processed foods, radiation, prescription medications, alcohol and drug use. The more toxins within your environment that you are exposed to, the more a detox may be necessary.

What should you expect after a Detox?

Depending upon which detox you decide to undertake, will determine how difficult it is on you mentally and physically. It may be difficult especially if you are doing an elimination detox where you stop eating or drinking certain foods or food entirely. During a detox, toxins are released from stored fat into the blood so they can be excreted. You may have decreased energy, skin irritation, headaches or mood swings while your body is eliminating these toxins. After a detox is finished, most people experience a boost in energy, improved mood, weight loss, decreased bloating, easier elimination, better muscle recovery, increased immune system and overall better health. Traditional doctors attribute these results to the limited or eliminated food, which requires the body to burn, accumulated and stored fats. However this has not diminished people\'s interest or continued use of detox programs. Especially since detoxification has become a popular topic over the past decade and an increasing number of detox products have become available in the market. Ultimately, people will continue to use detox programs as long as they continue to have beneficial results, even if traditional medicine disputes the use of detoxification.
